The market gives both visitors and locals the opportunity to purchase some of the wonderful things people around here make or grow, and gives local artisans and producers the opportunity to showcase their wares.
A group of Rystone residents, inspired by the wonderful talents in the Rylstone Show’s exhibition hall each year, formed the Rylstone Artisan and Produce Association in May 2011. This not for profit body now operates a monthly market in Rylstone, on the second Saturday of each month from 9 am to 1.30 pm in the Rylstone Memorial Hall, Louee Street, Rylstone.
This includes local artisans (e.g. art, jewellery, photography, pottery, ceramics, textiles, knitting, weaving, writing, woodwork, sculpture, music, mosaic etc) as well as local producers of fresh and value added products (e.g. fruit and vegetables, plants, seeds, herbs, cheeses, organic meat/poultry, flowers, oils, wines, baked goods, preserves, jams, honey, small live-stock, worm farms, etc).
Who can sell at the markets? If you create it, bake it, grow it or make it, and you live locally, you can sell it at the Rylstone Artisan and Produce Market.
