OVERVIEW
Mudgee Region Tourism Incorporated (MRTI) is an independent incorporated body funded by the Mid-Western Regional Council and by its members. MRTI is responsible for the promotion of tourism assets across the local government area of Mid-Western Regional Council (MWRC) – Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone, Kandos and a number of small towns in between.
MRTI was established in 2001, is governed by a constitution and operates in accordance with the Association Incorporations Act 2009. MRTI comprises members from a range of sectors of the business community and currently supports around 300 members. The organisation is funded by its members, by a contract with Mid-Western Regional Council and through other revenue streams such as merchandise and event ticket sales at the visitor centres.
Our research tells us that growth of the visitor economy in this region has been trending well over the past 7-10 years. The region is well serviced with wineries, cellar doors, restaurants, cafes, pubs, local produce, events and natural attractions.
BOARD STRUCTURE – HOW IS MUDGEE REGION TOURISM GOVERNED
The organisation is governed by a Constitution and board of seven volunteer Skills-Based Directors and one MWRC elected member. The board oversees the direction for the marketing and development of tourism within the region.
