Leonardo da Vinci epitomised Renaissance Humanism, creating some of the most influential paintings in western art. He died over 500 years ago, yet his work remains enigmatic, potent and mystifying. A gifted engineer, inventor and scientist, painting fell at the end of his line of curiosity, yet ironically it’s this for which he is remembered best.
