Curated by Rosby’s Kay Norton-Knight for the internationally
acclaimed Rosby Gallery – Gemma Pride and Julie Laurie
present two recent bodies of work that capture the stillness
and drama of the everyday.
Gemma’s collection emerged from a serendipitous Instagram
encounter during COVID, where she discovered Sarah-Jane Saxelby’s
Room Portrait Club—a creative platform that allowed Gemma to
blend her 30 years of experience in interiors with her passion for
painting. Her work reimagines the beauty of interior spaces through a
unique artistic lens.
In contrast, Julie Laurie presents large-scale steel and timber
sculptures crafted from the interplay of warm wood and cold steel,
evoking dynamic movement and raw natural energy.
Together, their work forms an innovative dialogue between painting
and sculpture, celebrating creativity in unexpected forms.
