In this workshop you will learn to rapidly and effectively sketch your surroundings using pencil, ink pen and wash and watercolour to record your adventures as you roam around the beautiful and always interesting and active grounds of Rosby. This may include people and animals and what they are doing, the landscape, changing light and weather, the vineyard, lunch, the Gallery/Cellar Door area etc. It will bring together two concepts. The first is “Natural Theatre”, that is, sketching the events and moments that happen before you and ignite a desire to sketch and capture the moment as it unfolds and “Lighthouse Plein Air” which is creating lots of various images of what you see all around you then compiling these fragment resources, either redrawing them or collaging them, or using a mixture of the two, to create a final coherent scene.

Day one will be the roaming and capturing your Natural Theatre Fragments. As you do this, material use and rapid sketching skills will be taught as well as technical tips on drawing everything around us, such as animals and people in movement, landscape, built structures and objects.

Day two will be the creation of the final large work which will capture various aspects of the site but will be designed and constructed to appear to be a single scene with lots going on. Composition, image planning, and using multiple perspectives will be taught.

Suitable for all levels, beginner to advanced. Limited numbers per workshop. Book in early to secure your place.
