TEACHER: Claire Tennant
Spend a truly unique weekend in Mudgee with casting superstar, Claire Tennant, and discover the true meaning of ‘hands on’. During this creative and fun two-day master class you’ll learn all the tricks of the trade needed to create a cast mould of your hands, taking home a few new friends and a statement piece to admire for years.
Day 1: During the first day you’ll be paired up to apply your life cast moulds in silicone. You’ll then learn how to apply the backing mould in plaster bandage. You and your partner will take turns to prepare the moulds and then all participants will come together to discuss the various casting techniques and materials available. To finish, you’ll cast your faces in plaster of Paris as well as casting some sample pieces to test your patinas on.
Day 2: On day two, participants will open their cured castings for inspection and use the time to clean up any problem areas and patch any bubbles using the tools supplied.
You’ll then discuss finishing techniques and applications before using your sample plates to test the various combinations of bases and patinas with a choice of 3 different finishes and patinas to apply. At the completion of the workshop you’ll have completed a face casting with a professional metal-look patina of your choice
