At Artisan on Lewis
Thirsty Duck - A Print Exhibition
Artisan on Lewis presents a third exhibition in Mudgee for this group of notable Sydney printmakers whose distinct individual styles both shine alone and compliment each other.
All are friends who have a full, extensive and individual body of life experience which is used to express and reflect place, interests and opinions.
As with all works there are elements of autobiography. They are all engrossed in the process, adding elements of self to bring the personal into play portraying a sense of comfort with ‘who they are and where they are’ being essential. This comfort and support extends to each other.
They offer a body of work for the view of the observer allowing a personal interpretation but most of all these works had to be made.
The artists are Judi Ringger, Annette Simpson, Wendy Lowe and Jutta Fuhrmans.
The printing processes used vary – linocut, solar plate, etching, screen-printing, chine collé and layering with other print methods or handcolouring. Some works are a number of things in one. All display a high level of skill and aptitude from the individual artist.
Do not misinterpret the art form of ‘Print’, it is by no means a mass manufactured affair. Each piece is uniquely designed and produced bearing the artist’s individual ‘mark of the hand’. Some will be highly collectable one off’s, others from strictly limited editions, all will be presented professionally framed and ready to hang in any prized art collection.
