Embark on one of four week-long programs, each with its own unique theme and highly revered guest facilitator.

The Programs

2-9 May 2021: The Artist’s Eye with Idris Murphy

The Artists Eye is an exploration of aesthetics, art and the relationship between local artists and their place of work and living. It seeks to inform the attendees personal artistic appreciation as well as providing an insight into a fascinating region through the lens of its history and its artists.

Idris Murphy, a leading contemporary figurative landscape painter and academic, will facilitate interactions with local artists such as Luke Scibberas at Hill End, Chester Nealie and Jan Irvine in Gulgong, as well as artisans and makers throughout the region. Added to this roster of creative talents are epicurean delights sampled with visits to vineyards and various growers.

9-16 May 2021: The Story Hunters with Jan Cornall

Over the course of this week, Jan Cornall will lead a profoundly unique literary experience centred around the NSW heritage region of Gulgong, Mudgee, Rylstone + Hill End.  It is a week that is part writers festival, part travel experience, part writing workshop and part holiday, where the whole greatly exceeds the sum of its parts.

This masterclass focuses on the hunt for stories; how it informs the present; how it becomes integral to a place; how it is written and how story becomes eulogised into mythology.

16-23 May 2021: Live at the Opera House with Sue Johnson

Under the musical guidance of Sue Johnson, one of the world’s emerging choir directors, Live at the Prince of Wales Opera House Gulgong will be a sensational musical homage hosted in the heritage town of Gulgong.

Following a magnificent week exploring one of Australia’s most fascinating regions, singing in its’ woolsheds and old pioneer churches, exploring the gold mining region of Hill End, Mudgee + Rylstone, and rehearsing daily in the 1871 Opera House, the group will perform to a local crowd on the same stage as Dame Mellie Melba.

23-30 May 2021: The Artist’s Eye with Jan Irvine

Jan Irvine, a leading visual artist working in a contemporary textile medium, will facilitate interactions with local artists such as Luke Scibberas at Hill End, and Chester Nealie, as well as artisans and makers throughout the region. Added to this roster of creative talents are epicurean delights sampled with visits to vineyards and various growers.
