Don’t be a fool, embark on a Riesling adventure with the Gilberts on 1 April!
Join winemakers Simon and Will Gilbert for an evening of discovery involving one of the world’s most revered grapes. Starting the journey in town, guests will be treated to sparkling and canapes before exploring the winery at Apple Tree Flat, sampling juice from barrels and tanks and tasting leading examples of Riesling from Australia and around the world.
Following this comprehensive look at the Riesling production process, guests will return to The Cellar by Gilbert and be rewarded with delicious dinner prepared by Pip Sumbak. Pip’s food will be accompanied by flights of Australian and international Rieslings that have been selected to show off the noble varieties incredible versatility, ability to reflect the vineyard in which it’s grown and wonderful capacity to age.
Direct descendants of the pioneering Joseph Gilbert – the first person to plant Riesling in Australia, way back in 1847 – Simon and Will have inherited and built on a combined 170 years of knowledge and closely guarded family secrets. The resulting tales they have to tell and fine whites they have to share are not to be missed.
The Rolling Riesling Winemaker Dinner & Tour begins at 5pm on Saturday 1 April 2017. Guests will be picked up from Mudgee CBD.
