Join North East Wiradjuri Company for a series of three Weaving Workshops, hosted at their Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Kandos.
Facilitated by Di Pirotta and assisted by Leanne Windle and Virginia Doig, the three workshops focus on different traditional skills and practices.
Saturday, 27th March 2021 – String making and Coiling to make individual simple baskets (SOLD OUT)
Saturday, 24th April 2021 – Twining and knotting to make netting for fishnets or dillybags
Saturday, 15th May 2021 – To make an eel trap, fish trap or fishing line (using the techniques learnt in the first two workshops), to show how fishing was done with traditional tools made by hand. The finished piece will be kept as a Cultural display at NEWCo Cultural Centre.
These workshops are subsidised by NSW Government Country Arts Support Programme 2021 and North East Wiradjuri Co Ltd .
The Cost for each workshop will be $10. Participants are welcome to attend any individual workshop or all three.
