Raise your hand if your daily screen time is more than six hours? Okay, this one is for you.

Consider this your official ‘permission to pause’ slip.

Give it to your boss, your husband, your kid’s teacher her – and tell them it’s Mudgee Region-issued.

Because let’s face it, we all need a little time out. A moment to just breathe, reboot and turn off the notifications.

And if you’re looking for a spot that matches relaxation with regional charm, you’ve come to the right place.

  • Namaste bitches: turn off your phone and tune into zen with a yoga session. Hannah from Good Culture Club offers classes at her Perry Street studio, or book her for a private session at your accommodation. We’ll see you after shavasana…
  • Turn the page: grab a book from Portia and the team at the Book Nest and get ready to get reading. Take your picnic blanket and snuggle under a tree in Lawson Park, or grab a coffee and a spot in Alby + Esthers vine-covered courtyard.
  • Get outside: the Mudgee Region is just made for exploring, and nothing helps you recalibrate like some time in nature. Swap your work meetings for your walking shoes and head into Ferntree Gully or Wollemi National Park. No phones allowed (except for selfies with trees).
  • Float (or sweat!) your stress away: book a session in Jila Wellness’ magnesium-rich float tanks or infrared saunas, and feel your stress *literally* melt away. At Jila, you’re forced to truly switch off and reconnect with your mind, body and soul. So, come on - give your brain a little break.
  • Lie down: no, seriously. LIE DOWN. Holidays are all about napping. Pop on a cosy robe and a lush eye mask, dim the lights and snuggle down in your bed for a kip.
  • Dial M for Massage: nothing says ‘mini break’ like a massage or facial. The Mudgee Region is home to some seriously talented beauty therapists – take advantage of the gap in your calendar and book in for a long overdue treatment. No judgement if you fall asleep on the table…
  • Look up: okay, we might be biased, but the Mudgee Region has the *best* sunsets. There’s something special about watching the sun go down amongst the rolling hills and vines, with plenty of wide, open space and clean, country air. It’s the kind of sunset that stays with you, so take a moment to soak it in. Put down your camera (we know, we know!) and just enjoy it. The same goes for star gazing - the night sky is a sight to behold here, and a crisp autumn night is the perfect way to enjoy it.
  • Paddle it out: there’s something deeply relaxing about a kayak tour with the Southern Cross Kayaking crew. It’s the combination of the rhythmic paddling, the stillness of the water, and the sound of nature all around – we can feel the relaxation from here…
