Dreams Alpaca Farm, a unique tiny homestay, offers the perfect antidote if the city’s relentless pace has you yearning for simplicity.
Tucked away in Windeyer, Dreams Alpaca Farm isn’t about grandeur; it’s about finding joy in the simple things. Owner Fernando believes a big house isn’t necessary to feed the soul. Here, minimalism takes centre stage.
Wake up to 300 acres of scenic, peaceful farmland at any one of Dreams Alpaca Farm’s five tiny homes, built over time in partnership with Tiny Away. Each home is cosy, yet equipped with all the comforts you need. Across 170 square feet, you’ll find a queen double bed, split air conditioning, a couch (that converts to another queen bed), a kitchenette, and an ecologically sustainable bathroom with a warm shower.
What truly sets Dreams Alpaca Farm apart is its focus on simplicity and flexibility. There are no rigid schedules or rules; Fernando works with guests to plan activities such as farm tours, animal feedings or private winery tours at their convenience. Guests are also free to explore the farm on their own or even try their hand at gold prospecting! Don’t fancy leaving? No problem. Fernando can arrange meals and platters made with local produce to be delivered to your door, so you don’t have to lift a finger!
Fernando’s farm is home to an array of animals – from pygmy goats and pigs to alpacas, sheep, chickens, geese, bees, Highland cattle, horses and peacocks. The animals provide more than just entertainment; don’t leave without purchasing premium salami and gorgeous honey produced by the farm’s bees.
Fernando loves watching guests who initially hesitate to interact with the animals, only to fall in love with them by the end of their stay. His favourite story involves a young boy terrified of dogs, who ended up extending his stay just to cuddle his new canine friends.
Don’t be surprised to meet Carlos the Kelpie, eagerly wagging his tail on your arrival!
Fernando’s journey to creating Dreams Alpaca Farm began 20 years ago when he purchased an empty bush block while running a travel business in Sydney. After a health scare 10 years ago, he decided to embrace the peace and simplicity of farm life full-time. Living for two years in a small cabin, he gradually built a home for his partner and now adult children to visit. The combination of friends falling in love with the farm and Fernado’s travel background lead to a partnership with Tiny Away, and the creation of five tiny homes for visitors seeking a unique getaway.
’I created Dreams Alpaca Farm as an escape from the busyness and city rush. I enjoy being around the farm animals, and I love seeing the response and change in people, particularly from the city, once they get up close to the animals. You can see them relax and take in everything around them,’ says Fernando.
