Hand-pick fresh cherries, indulge in homemade treats, and sip organic wines at 10’s Estate, a family-run vineyard and orchard just minutes from Mudgee.
Mudgee’s rolling vineyards and rich soils are known for producing a bounty of fruits – many of which end up in the wines poured at local cellar doors. But at 10’s Estate, the experience goes beyond the glass.
Organically grown and nestled among cherry, fig and citrus trees, 10’s Estate invites you to connect to nature, feel the sun on your skin, and experience the unbeatable taste of fresh cherries and figs hand-picked straight off the orchard.
Relish the sweet crunch of cherries in November and December and the earthy richness of figs in February and March. Out of season, indulge in homemade cherry and fig jams, dried fruits, and even cherry ice cream. Or, take a perch in the cellar door to taste 10’s Estate’s range of organic wines.
Just four minutes from Mudgee’s town centre, this organic vineyard offers much more than your average wine tasting.
Cherry season is fast approaching. Come November, the cherry trees at 10’s Estate will be ripe for the picking – and you won’t want to miss this hands-on, laid-back experience.
Bring your basket and wander around the vibrant orchard, hand-picking sweet, juicy cherries straight from the source. The best bit is that these organic cherries are crisp, clean, and good enough to eat straight from the tree with no rinsing required. Just try not to eat them all - you’ll want to take some home! With limited supply, the team recommends visitors book online well ahead of time. From 22 November, 10's Estate will be open Friday to Sunday from 8am to 5pm.
Once you’ve filled your basket, head back to the cellar door to sample some of the estate’s homemade cherry products; think rich, gooey jams, refreshing ice cream, and other tasty bites, all made from the orchard’s harvest.
During the owner’s first visit to Mudgee in 2019, they were captivated by the beauty of the region and the orchard, with its endless rows of 4,000 cherry trees and grape vines that seemed to stretch into the horizon. Lay your eyes on the same awe-inspiring views from the white-brick cellar door, fitted out with delicate homey interiors and a striking chandelier. Sanny from 10’s Estate commented, “They’ve worked hard to ensure it feels like home”, a place where you can sip wine, let the kids roam free and enjoy nature in its purest form.
Let the team guide you through a tasting where you’ll be served Shiraz, Semillon, Cabernet, and Chardonnay produced from organically farmed vines. Pair it with a cheese platter or if it’s not time for wine, relax with a cup of coffee while soaking in the sweeping views of Mudgee’s countryside. Whether you're wandering through the orchards or relaxing with a glass of wine, there’s always a sense of warmth here.
