Welcome to one of the most historic properties in the region, home to world-class thoroughbred horses, Wagyu cattle and wine. There’s no question – Gooree Park has become a cornerstone of Mudgee’s rich heritage.
Gooree Park is a name synonymous with excellence – for their world-class thoroughbred horses, best marbling Wagyu beef and brilliant wines produced from their own vineyards.
Lined with stately trees and iconic white post and rail fencing, the property exudes a timeless charm. Whether you’re sipping wine at the cellar door or strolling through the expansive grounds, Gooree Park – situated between Mudgee and Gulgong – offers a unique blend of rustic beauty and friendly hospitality.
When Filipino businessman Eduardo Cojuangco Jnr acquired Gooree Park in 1979, he didn’t just purchase land, he laid the foundation for a world-renowned legacy in thoroughbred horse breeding.
Gooree has bred and raced some of the toughest racehorses in Australia, including – ‘war horse‘ Desert War, the late Northern Meteor, and Crowned Glory. Today, the legacy continues. Tropical Squall, a rising star, secured a victory in March 2024 in the Surround Stakes, solidifying her status as one of the premier racehorses in Australia. Her speedy winning time of 1m22.63s and the final 600m in 33.92s is a testament to the meticulous breeding and training at Gooree Park.
King’s Gambit, another jewel from Gooree Park, made his debut performance in the Debutant Stakes earning him an impressive rating of 101.7. Newgate Stud Manager Jim Carey commented, ‘Physically he‘s as close to a perfect 10 as a horse can get.‘ He has now moved on to the Breeding side of the business and has a full book of mares.
Along with wine and horses, the team at Gooree Park find joy in good old-fashioned hospitality. Across the year, the estate holds an array of exciting events, alongside hosting daily Stud and Wine tours and guests staying at the charming on-site cottages.
Across the October long weekend, Gooree Park will open its doors for a relaxed celebration. Get stuck into lawn games, sway in your seat to live music and sip your favourite Gooree drops of wine.
When Derby Day and Melbourne Cup roll around, Gooree Park is the place to be. Celebrate more than just the racing; indulge in a culinary experience, don your best look and soak up the buzzing atmosphere of these highlight events in the race calendar.
