Just like Yogi Bear, we love a picnic basket. And with a huge range of incredible local produce on offer throughout the region, you’ll reach peak picnic goals with your Mudgee Region platter.
Before you grab your picnic blanket and get ready to snack, here’s a few spots to stop for local goodies that pack a picnic punch (try saying that 10 times fast!). Off you pop…
Althea by Zin: for freshly baked sourdough, delicious sausage rolls and the best croissants in town.
Gooree Park: for roasted garlic aioli and red wine mustard that you’ll want to lick out of the jar.
Mudgee Honey Haven: for every type of honey you’ve ever wanted. Or didn’t know you wanted. You’ll also fall in love with their delicious honey and spiced meads.
Rylstone Olive Press: for award-winning olive oil. Perfect for dipping, or take it home and enhance your evening meals.
High Valley Cheese Co: for the most mouth-watering cheese. Their Pesto Fetta is a locals’ favourite, while their caerphilly and brie are best served with crackers or bread.
Pebbly Path or Spencer Cocoa: for the sweet tooths. Locally made chocolate with a twist. Pebbly Path’s rocky road is well-known for its “lack of boring bits” while Spencer Cocoa’s chocolate range is seriously more-ish.
Aril Estate: for locally grown olives. Could eat their olive tapenade for breakfast.
The Little Cooking School & Commissary:
for food made with heart. Tamara’s range of wraps, salads, sandwiches and sweets change daily, but they’re always made with quality local produce.
And if you just want to try it all? Consider the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre
your one-stop shop for local produce. It’s home to a range of local wine, relishes, jams, olives, sauces, cheese, honey, mustard, chocolate and more. All you need to bring is your basket…
