Mudgee Region got it right when it decided to dedicate an entire month to its rich wine and food heritage.
Mudgee Wine and Food Month, held annually in September, is a celebration of the region’s incredible wine and produce offering, and the dozens of winemakers, farmers and producers who keep the town fed and watered.
Fun fact: Mudgee is actually one of the nation’s oldest wine regions, harking back to 1858, when commercial viticulture officially kicked off. Several German immigrant families planted some of Mudgee’s first vineyards in Eurunderee, and quickly found their European winemaking knowledge was well suited to Mudgee’s warm days, cool nights and varied soil. What a win!
Fast forward 150 years, and the Mudgee Region is now home to a truly diversified farming culture (it’s not all wine here!), producing everything from olives, honey, premium lamb and beef, artisan cheeses, stone fruit, figs and garlic.
Wine and Food Month is an homage to the region’s agricultural prowess – think of it as a flex of our winemaking and farming muscles.
As one of Australia’s longest-running food festivals (we’re pretty talented), this month-long celebration is all about saying cheers to our local legends, with tastings, paddock-to-plate dinners and producer-led events. It all culminates with the annual Flavours of Mudgee street fair, where the region really gets a chance to show off its best wine, food and produce.

AREC, Mudgee
Think of this as Mudgee’s most exclusive cellar door event.
Picture it: it’s the evening after the official judging of the 2026 Mudgee Wine Show. The judges have worked their way through 200 different drops. Now it’s your turn.
Sample the wines entered into this year’s competition, meet the makers behind them and then take home the bottles you love.
Local foodies Alejandro’s Authentic Italian food truck will be on hand, and tickets include tasting tokens and the opportunity to purchase wine at exclusive flat pricing.
Even better – unsold wine will be available as mystery six-packs sold through the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre at 90 Market Street!

Kick off your Mudgee Region weekend with an evening of boutique wine, local produce and relaxed country charm, all in the heart of the CBD.
Discover a curated selection of regional wine labels, including some you won’t find at cellar doors, alongside delicious bites from local food vendors and producers.
It’s the perfect way to ease into the weekend – wine glass in hand, of course.

It’s the big one – the region’s largest food and wine event.
We’re shutting down Mudgee’s iconic main streets for a street party for the ages, with 60 local food and wine producers, street performers, live music and more.
