Mudgee Arts Precinct is proud to present David Hockney: Temporary Spaces by renowned international artist, David Hockney, the second exhibition in a two-year loan as part of the Australian Government’s Sharing the National Collection initiative from the National Gallery of Australia.
Home to the most valuable collection of art in Australia, the National Gallery of Australia’s collection contains over 155,000 works of art, including the extensive Kenneth Tyler Print Collection comprising over 7,400 works by leading 20th century artists from 1966 through to 2001 and some of the finest examples of Pop Art held in an Australian collection.
David Hockney (born 1937) is a British painter, draftsman, and printmaker, is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Associated with the Pop Art movement in the 1960s, he is best known for his vibrant depictions of California life, especially swimming pools, modern architecture and sunlit landscapes. Hockney has consistently experimented with perspective and visual perception, working across media such as painting, photography, stage design, and later, digital art using iPads.
These works of art are on long term loan from the National Gallery of Australia with support from the Australian Government as part of Sharing the National Collection. #artacrossaustralia
