This exhibition brings together the works of Nicola McCutcheon and Michael Bourke, two long-time supporters of Rosby Gallery and Sculptures in the Garden, whose practices are united by storytelling, humour, and quiet reflection on the human condition.

Working primarily in clay, Nicola McCutcheon creates figurative, narrative sculptures shaped by more than three decades of practice. Her works invite the viewer into a suspended moment—sparking memory, curiosity, and daydream. Rather than offering fixed meanings, McCutcheon leaves space for the imagination to wander, encouraging each viewer to construct their own story.

Michael Bourke’s paintings balance wit with vulnerability. Often painted on modest canvas rectangles, his works explore the emotional gap between hope and loss, tenderness and melancholy. In reimagining the world through these intimate formats, Bourke offers a gentle, honest meditation on living, feeling, and finding solace in the act of making.

Together, McCutcheon and Bourke present an exhibition rich in narrative, empathy, and understated emotional depth.
